Analytical modeling of open-Circuit air-Gap field distributions in multisegment and multilayer interior permanent-magnet machines

We present a simple lumped magnetic circuit model for interior permanent-magnet (IPM) machines with multisegment and multilayer permanent magnets. We derived analytically the open-circuit air-gap field distribution, average air-gap flux density, and leakage fluxes. To verify the developed models and analytical method, we adopted finite-element analysis (FEA). We show that for prototype machines, the errors between the FEA and analytically predicted results are 1% for multisegment IPM machines and 2% for multilayer IPM machines. By utilizing the developed lumped magnetic circuit models, the IPM machines can be optimized for maximum fundamental and minimum total harmonic distortion of the air-gap flux density distribution

Radial excitations of mesons and nucleons from QCD sum rules

Within the framework QCD sum rules, we use the least square fitting method to investigate the first radial excitations of the nucleon and light mesons such as ρ\rho, KK^{*}, π\pi , φ\varphi. The extracted masses of these radial excitations are consistent with the experimental data. Especially we find that the decay constant of π(1300)\pi(1300), which is the the first radial excitation of π\pi, is tiny and strongly suppressed as a consequence of chiral symmetry.Comment: 19 page

Flexible shape extraction for micro/nano scale structured surfaces.

Surface feature is the one of the most important factors affecting the functionality and reliability of micro scale patterned surfaces. For micro scale patterned surface characterisation, it’s important to extract the surface feature effectively and accurately. The active contours, known as “snakes”, have been successfully used to segment, match and track the objects of interest. The active contours have been applied to facial boundary detection, medical image processing, motion correction, etc. In this paper, surface feature extraction techniques based on active contours have been investigated. Parametric active contour models and geometric active contour models have been presented. Also, a group of examples has been selected here to demonstrate the feasibility and applicability of the surface pattern extraction techniques based on active contours. At last, experimental results will be given and discussed
